Terms of Use

These terms cover CrowdWire, the iPhone app, and crowdwire.app. By using CrowdWire, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

• CrowdWire has zero tolerance for abusive people and objectionable content.
• You can report and block anyone, from any chat, crew, or friend request.
• SOS alerts your crews only. It never contacts emergency services.

Who we are

CrowdWire is made by Side Hat Ventures LLC. When these terms say "we", they mean us.

Who can use CrowdWire

You must be at least 13 years old to use CrowdWire. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian needs to agree to these terms with you.

Zero tolerance for abuse

CrowdWire is for keeping friends together. We don't tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. Don't use CrowdWire to:

• Harass, bully, threaten, stalk, or intimidate anyone.
• Send hateful content that attacks people for who they are, such as their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, gender, or sexual orientation.
• Share sexual content involving anyone under 18, or send sexual content to anyone who hasn't asked for it.
• Encourage violence, self-harm, or crime.
• Pretend to be someone else, or mislead people about who you are.
• Send spam or scams.
• Send a false SOS or a fake alert on purpose.
• Share someone's location or private information without their permission.
• Break the law or anyone else's rights.

Reporting and blocking

To report someone, press and hold one of their messages, or open the menu for them in a chat, a crew's member list, the Chats tab, or a friend request, and choose Report. Your email app opens with a report to us that includes their name, their CrowdWire ID, where it happened, and their recent messages in that chat. You can add to it before you send it. Reporting also blocks them.

Blocking hides everything that person sends you, SOS alerts included, and they aren't told. A crew's creator can remove anyone from the crew.

We read every report within 24 hours. CrowdWire has no accounts, and messages are stored only on phones, encrypted, so we can't read them unless you send them to us, and we can't delete them from anyone's phone. When a report is about a festival's map or alerts, we can take that festival off CrowdWire. Where the law requires it, we work with the authorities.

SOS and safety

CrowdWire is not an emergency service. An SOS sends your location to your crews and nobody else. It does not contact the police, an ambulance, event staff, or anyone outside your crews.

Messages, locations, and SOS alerts travel over Bluetooth from phone to phone, and over the internet when you have signal. How far and how fast they get depends on how many phones nearby run CrowdWire, their batteries, distance, and signal, so they can arrive late or not at all. In an emergency, find event staff or call your local emergency number.

What you send

You're responsible for what you send with CrowdWire. It stays yours. You let the people you send it to receive and see it, and you let phones running CrowdWire carry it along, encrypted, to reach them.

Festival maps and alerts

Festival maps and organizer alerts may be incomplete or out of date. Always follow signs and instructions from event staff over anything in the app.

The app as it is

We work hard on CrowdWire, but we provide it as it is, without promises that it will always work, reach everyone, or be free of mistakes. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses that come from using it or from being unable to use it. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be taken away.

If you got CrowdWire from the App Store, the App Store's standard license terms also apply, and these terms add to them.

Stopping

You can stop using CrowdWire at any time. In Settings, Erase everything deletes your identity, crews, friends, and chats from your phone. We may change CrowdWire or stop offering it.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update them here and change the date at the top. Using CrowdWire after that means you accept the new terms.
